VFloat™
Premium float glass
VFloat™ is a foundation product of the float manufacturing process. The glass is produced with brilliant flat surfaces, setting the benchmark for glass of quality and optical clarity.
Manufactured in Clear or Toned and available in a wide range of sizes, the brilliant flat surface of VFloat™ provide clarity, low distortion and high daylight transmission.
VFloat™ is ideal for further processing such as general glazing, laminating, toughening, high performance coating, mirrors and decorative finishes. It can also be incorporated into double glazed unit applications for enhanced solar and thermal performance.
The tone and light transmission will vary depending on the thickness selected and this is a design consideration where colour uniformity is required.

Considerations
Thermal stress
- VFloat™ Toned glass can absorb solar heat when exposed to the sun. This can lead to glass fracture from thermal stress, particularly if partially shaded. We recommend heat treatments such as heat strengthening or toughening to eliminate this risk.
Installation
- Edges of solar control glass must not be damaged during installation as this increases the risk of thermal fracture.
Design Considerations
- VFloat™ Toned glass will have varying tints and light transmission depending on the thickness.
- Annealed glass is not recommended for applications where safety glass is required.
How to Specify
- Available in Clear or Toned.
- Select from: Annealed, heat strengthened, toughened, laminated, toughened laminated, toughened heat soaked, insulated glass units, mirror coated and screen or digital printing.
